Who We Are & What We Do

Scottish Youth Theatre – giving young people in Scotland the opportunity to explore and to reach their creative potential through a quality theatre arts experience.

Using the youth theatre/drama process to develop not only creativity and performance skills but also transferable skills in participants, Scottish Youth Theatre puts particular emphasis on each individual’s personal and social development. This process encourages children and young people to improve self-confidence, self-image and self-esteem. The range of activities offers an opportunity for progression through the Company, from weekly classes to specialist classes, and from Summer Festival to casting for theatre, film & television and beyond.

For participants who have shown promise and are interested in a career in any aspect of theatre, film and television, there is Scottish Youth Theatre’s high quality, high profile project and performance group, SYT Productions. This group provides pre-professional training and experience in working across many disciplines including script development; production; performance; directing; leading workshops and technical theatre.

Scottish Youth Theatre also works in partnership with schools, youth theatres, youth groups and national agencies to deliver tailor-made Special Projects. Each project is devised and developed to suit the requirements of each client group.
