Murder in the Old Sheriff Court - a devised performance course for young people aged 8-16 during the school break.
When? Monday 17th – Saturday 22nd October @10am – 5pm everyday (drop off and pick up facilities are available from 8.30am and up to 6pm). The final performance will take place on Saturday 22nd October in the Brian Cox Studio at Scottish Youth Theatre.

This October, the holiday course on offer at Scottish Youth Theatre is ‘Murder in the Old Sheriff Court’. This course offers young people the opportunity to further develop their creative skills in a safe and welcoming environment. Working with a professional director, participants will create their own character through improvisation games and exercises while exploring the genre of murder mystery.
Interpersonal skills will be developed as participants bring characters together to create a new and exciting interactive murder mystery with the rest of the group. Improvisation exercises will build confidence in the young people to comfortably converse with the audience, accept ideas and own their truly unique piece of theatre.
The final piece will take the shape of a promenade with the cast leading the audience to different areas of the Old Sheriff Court as the story unfolds. With the director, the participants will build performance skills in voice and movement. On the final day of the course, the young people will perform their murder mystery to a live audience.

Some things to remember:
- No previous drama experience required
- Please note – places will be allocated on a first come first served basis
- You must be over 8 years old on the day that the course starts (22/10/11) in order to take part
- You can book you place & pay online or download a booking form from our website and return it to us at the address below
- Don’t forget to include a passport sized photograph
- A separate application form must be filled out for each applicant
